Have you ever wanted to eat two delicious things at the same time but simply couldn’t? Well, an Australian man by the name of Mark Murray has successfully done the impossible – he has created a hotdog and burger combo, and it’s glorious!

The Hamdog creator has also managed to get his creation patented and has started selling it. So what is the Hamdog? Well, it’s a hotdog and a burger combined in one bun. The bun itself is what holds both the hotdog and the burger patty. To allow the hotdog to be placed in between, the burger is split in half. The bun has the common fillings such as cheese, tomato, lettuce, mayonnaise, tomato sauce and mustard.

Mark Murray first burst onto the scene when he appeared in the Australian hit TV show Shark Tank which is the UK version of Dragon’s Den where he first introduced his idea to potential backers.

Unfortunately, the idea didn’t take as judges turned him down. This didn’t discourage Murray, a year later he started selling the Hamdogs at markets and fairs in Western Australia. He’s also started looking into people who are interested in taking on the franchise.

“We launched our marquee two months ago, and we had people come from everywhere just to experience the Hamdog. At one stage the crew were knocking out about one every 15 seconds. It was amazing,” he told News.com.au.

The Hamdog was first copyrighted back in 2009 in the U.S. However; Murray only started selling his Hamdog in 2015. In his first pitch to the judges, Murray described the meal as a “party in your mouth” and the judges’ response was laughter. The Hamdog is made of local ingredients which is one of the reasons why it’s a hit with locals.

“At the moment there is a fair bit of labour involved in making the buns because they’re made by people, not machines. We’re still developing a way to semi automate production,” Mr. Murray said.
